about the workshop

The funding grant notification has arrived! But what happens now? What actually does necessary, economical and sparingly mean, what is unsexy called regulation on sub-threshold procurement (in German even unsexier: Unterschwellenvergabeordnung) or an early commencement of the project? What in the Federal Travel Expenses Act is important for us who work in cultural funding, which documents do I have to collect and how do I document/explain correctly?

In the session (input with Q&A), we will not work on specific cases, but rather clarify basic terms and rules for the use of public funding and commonly trace paths through the supposedly impermeable bureaucratic maze.

There will be breaks. A longer break of 30 minutes will be scheduled about halfway through the session. Shorter breaks are scheduled before and after. There will be no breakout sessions. There will be a presentation. After the session, participants will receive comprehensive documentation with in-depth further information. Participant interaction is desired and welcome at some points, but not obligatory - it is also possible to interact in writing via the chat.

harriet lesch

Harriet Lesch has been working as a cultural manager in various functions and areas since 1990. In 1998 she started working for the DepArtment office, which produced and managed numerous artists and performing arts projects. She has worked in the areas of organization, project management and communication for a wide variety of festivals and congresses. She is co-founder of WILSON*BORLES arts management (2013 to 2021 framework contract agency of the German Federal Cultural Foundation).

As managing director, she oversaw the 2014 and 2017 Theater der Welt festivals, as well as the 2020/21 dance/music/architecture project ARCHIPEL as production manager. In addition, she gives advanced training in the areas of structure, organization and finances and works as a consultant for festivals, institutions and independent artists.

This issue of skills & discourse is aimed at all producers who have or will have to deal with the use of public funding, such as federal funding. Experience in dealing with funding is particularly helpful for understanding and for our exchange.

This workshop has a limited number of participants. If the event is already fully booked on our website, please contact martin, who will keep a waiting list and contact you if there are any vacancies.
